Every individual is precious to God. Each soul is priceless!

Can You Stand in the Rain

Are you able to weather the storm? Can God count on you?

2Thes 3;13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

We often go through periods of time in our lives where we are overlooked,  not appreciated, not thanked, do not receive cooperation…in spite of the time and effort we have spent in  developing programs, encouraging others……

Some of us hold onto things too long, and we miss what God wants for us. We’re too afraid to trust Him.
~Mae Lois Fields

A recent devotional had me reading Mark 9:33-37 where the disciples had argued among themselves who would be greatest. I was asked when I reviewed my day did I spend more time serving or was more time spent being served.

At first I immediately discounted my job thinking the nature of my job has me automatically serving and started to look at my off hours. But then I stopped and thought no, slow down, start from the beginning of the day. If anyone works or volunteers in a helping field or customer service type industry it might be tempting for them to do as I initially did. But take another look.

Do I expect, consciously or subconsciously, my co-workers to do certain aspects of my job? Do I cater to those consumers who make it easy for me to assist them? If I am the more knowledgeable of the team, do I look or expect to be deferred to? These same questions can be asked of myself as I work in the community or the church.

I often watch church leaders. And so often observe how these (servant) leaders are assisted and/or served. I wonder do we allow them to “serve”? Do we narrowly define service of the leader as teaching or preaching the Word of God or managing the ministry? I sometimes wonder how the congregation would react if the Pastor or the Pastor’s wife (or an spiritual leader) were to grab a vacuum sweeper and began sweeping the carpet in the sanctuary or swept the bathroom floor. That was just a side thought on being a servant.

But it was definitely an interesting exercise to review my day, my week to see how much time do I spend serving. And would God agree with my assessment.

I will let nothing and nobody separate me from my dedication to God.

A new DOOR is opening for you. Be sure to walk through it!

So many times opportunities are presented to us. Because of fear or maybe failure to recognize them as such we often fail to walk through the door.

A young lady that I considered a friend was laid to rest today. We were the same age – our birthdays just a few days apart. She was someone that I admired. I remember wishing I had a sense of confidence the way she seemed to have. I loved how particular she was about her hair – it had to be just so. She was so personable, and it seemed she never had a hard time making friends or making people feel comfortable. She LOVED talking about God and his goodness.

The church today was packed. I remarked to a Mother next to me “wow! When I die I hope someone comes to my funeral”. The community really show – with their presence – how much she had touched their lives.

I’ll miss her smile, her laugh, her love.

I’m so glad you’re no longer in pain.

The song says there is none like You.  No one can touch my heart the way that you do. I can search throughout eternity long and find there is none like You.

God is such an awesome God. It’s amazing how He is able to multi task. That out of all the millions and billions of people, of all the animals, and he keeps track of all the stars in the sky,  the storms, and the sun, the moon, all of the different  things of just this one world – let alone all of the universes that exist.  And YET he’s still loves and is concerned about me!

There is truly none like him!
